Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 1, 2026
Introduction
Mikhail Gudzikevich ("we", "our", "us") operates Where, an app for keeping the addresses of friends and family: entrance, floor, apartment, door codes and notes. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, where it is stored and who else may receive it.
In short: the places you save stay on your device. We do not run our own servers and do not receive your places. The app uses Apple Maps to show maps and find addresses, Google AdMob to show ads and Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used.
Information Stored on Your Device
- The places you add: names, street addresses, entrance, floor, apartment, door and gate codes, notes, and map pins you set.
- Your settings, such as the copy template and which fields it includes.
- Whether you have bought "Remove ads and limits" and how many extra places you have earned by watching ads.
This information is stored only on your device using Apple's on-device storage. We do not upload it and the app does not sync it to any cloud service. If device backups are enabled in your iOS settings, it may be included in your iCloud or computer backup, which is controlled by you and Apple. You can edit or delete any place at any time, and deleting the app removes all of its data from the device.
Information Processed by Third Parties
Maps and Address Search (Apple)
- To show maps, suggest addresses while you type, find the location of an address and look up the address of a map pin, the app uses Apple's MapKit services.
- For this, the address text you type, search queries, the visible map area and pin coordinates are sent to Apple.
- This processing is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Your Location
- The app asks for your location only when you tap "Show my location" while pinning a place on the map.
- Your location is used once to move the map to where you are. It is not stored and is not sent to us.
- You can deny or revoke location access in iOS Settings. Pinning a place still works by moving the map by hand.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
- The app shows a banner ad on the list screen and offers optional rewarded video ads. Ads are provided by Google through the Google Mobile Ads SDK.
- To serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google may collect your IP address, device and app information (such as device model, operating system version and an app-specific identifier), approximate location derived from your IP address, and your interactions with ads.
- Before ads start, the app asks for permission to track you across apps and websites (App Tracking Transparency). Only if you allow it does Google receive your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to show more relevant ads. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", the identifier is not shared. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and certain US states, Google's consent tool asks for your choices before ads are personalized. You can change them at any time with "Privacy choices" in the app's Settings, when this option is shown.
- Buying "Remove ads and limits" removes the banner ads.
- Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Google's Privacy Policy.
Usage Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
- To understand which features are used and to improve the app, the app sends usage events to Google Analytics for Firebase, for example that a place was added or deleted, an address was copied, a copy template was chosen, a map pin was set or the place limit was reached, and when a purchase or restore was completed.
- These events never contain the names, addresses, codes or notes you save.
- Together with the events, Google receives an app instance identifier, device and app information (such as device model, operating system version and app version), approximate location derived from your IP address, and, if you allowed tracking, your device's advertising identifier.
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the choices you make in Google's consent tool also apply to analytics.
- Learn more in Google Analytics data safeguards and Google's Privacy Policy.
Purchases (Apple)
- Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details.
- The app checks with Apple on your device whether you own the purchase, so it can remove ads and limits.
Copying and Sharing
- When you tap Copy, the address is placed on your device's clipboard.
- When you tap Share, the address is sent only to the app or person you choose in the iOS share sheet.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not require accounts, logins or email addresses.
- We do not operate servers that receive your places, addresses, codes or notes.
- We do not use crash reporting services.
- The app does not access your contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
- We do not have access to your payment information.
Sharing and Sale of Information
We do not sell your personal information. The only third parties that receive information from the app are Apple (maps, search and purchases) and Google (advertising and usage analytics), as described above.
Legal Basis for Processing (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
- Providing the app: map display, address search and purchases are needed to deliver the features you ask for.
- Consent: personalized advertising, usage analytics and storing or accessing information on your device for these purposes rely on the consent you give in Google's consent tool. You can withdraw it at any time with "Privacy choices".
- Legitimate interests: showing non-personalized ads that keep the app free, and preventing ad fraud.
International Data Transfers
Apple and Google may process information in countries outside your own, including the United States. They rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and adequacy decisions for these transfers.
Data Retention
- Places and settings stay on your device until you delete them or delete the app.
- We do not keep copies of your data.
- Apple and Google keep the information they receive according to their own privacy policies.
Your Rights
- Your places are under your control: you can view, correct, export by copying or sharing, and delete them in the app at any time.
- You can change your advertising choices with "Privacy choices" in Settings, and limit location access in iOS Settings.
- In the EEA, UK and Switzerland you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, to data portability and to withdraw consent. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
- For information held by Apple or Google, you can also exercise your rights directly with them.
Your US State Privacy Rights
We do not sell personal information for money. Under the laws of California and some other US states, showing ads through Google may count as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out with the choice shown when you first open the app or with "Privacy choices" in Settings. You also have the right to know, delete and correct personal information, and we will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Data Security
Your places are protected by your device's security, including its passcode and data protection. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
The app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
